What is a SIP ?

SIP functions through the baseline specification RFC3261, SIP server functionality has been divided into three parts namely SIP registrar server, SIP redirection server, SIP proxy server , the first one will handle the location and the second one redirects the address responses and finally the third one will forward these requests successfully. SIP is basically a text based protocol and it has been developed with a common purpose to initialize real time voice chat and video sessions between each other groups. SIP can initialize video and auto online multicast conferences.

Advantages of SIP Protocol

SIP can work on IPV4 AND IPV6 and it uses TCP. This type of implementation help SIP to reduce the cost by providing a faster performance. Communication is 100% possible between two SIP devices.

SIP can run over IPv4 and IPv6 and it can use either TCP or UDP. The most common implementations, though, use IPv4 and UDP. It helps to minimize overhead, thereby fastening performance. Another advantage is that the communication is possible through two SIP devices, once the call is established, through SIP devices voice signals travel directly to the other SIP device without the use of a proxy. It can translate any extension numbers and it will decide what that number is and it can identify whether the call is coming from a telephone or not.
