What is a Project ? Difference between Project and
Project management?
Project is just a job, which is done for single time. If you
ask me what is the difference between project and project management, may be
both terminology looks similar but it is not the truth, both are different from
each other. Project is done once and
Project management is how you manage the project.
Project Management in detail
It’s a process of planning, allotting resources, scheduling
and controlling the project activities to attain project objectives
successfully. Important and general
objectives of the project are cost, performance and time goals, to effectively
manage a project you need to show skills to make sure the scope of the project
is also achieved.
Its very unlikely that the scope of the project remain the
same through out the cycle of the project, generally speaking the scope of the
work increases as when we get into the details closely, you may discover new
problems or inefficiency to spot some problems about the project. Slight change in the project will surely
impact the budget, this is main reasons and causes of most of the project
failures.
Responsibilities of a Project manager
Project manager should inform the stakeholders about the
impact of the project if the project scope changes, if that has been
communicated to the stakeholders then the project failure chances are minimal.
A project manager should actually know this following things such as
performance, cost, time and scope.
Performance:
The work started must end in good note and with good quality
Cost:
The
cost of the project is related to the number of resources used
Time
You
need to schedule the project and finish it on time.
Scope
The
Magnitude of the work to be performed without any delay.
Equation is Cost
= f(P,T,S)
Where
f stands for function (f) of performance(p), time(t), and scope(s). All are interconnected.
