A firewall is a set of programs, which is installed normally in a network, which protects the resources of that network from users Hijacking it. its a system which totally controls the access with 2 or more networks. Firewalls can be incorporated both with hardware and software. Firewalls is widely used to stop anonymous access of internet users taking control of private networks, intranet and Pc's.
